LEMON BREAD

½ C. Shortening

1 C. Sugar

2 Eggs

1 & 2/3 C. Flour

1 tsp. Baking Powder

½ tsp. Salt

½ C. Milk

1 Lemon Rind grated

½ C. Nuts chopped

Grease a 9 by 14 inch bread pan. Pre heat oven to 350~. Blend shortening, sugar, and eggs. Beat well. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and milk. Blend. Add grated lemon rind and nuts. Pour into bread pan. Bake 1 hour. Remove from oven. Using a sharp fork, puncture holes in top of bread and pour glaze over it. Remove from pan when bread is only slightly warm.

Glaze: Juice of one lemon mixed with ¼ cup sugar
