1¼ C. Hot Water

1 C. Rolled Oats

1 C. Sugar

1 C. Brown Sugar

½ C. Shortening

2 Eggs

1&1/3 Flour

1 tsp. Baking Soda

1 tsp. Cinnamon

½ tsp. Salt

Mix together hot water and rolled oats, let sit while mixing cake batter.

Cream together, sugar, brown sugar, shortening. Add eggs. Sift flour, soda, cinnamon and salt to creamed mixture. Add the rolled oats and beat well. Bake at 350~ for 35 minutes. Top while warm with topping mix


¾ Stick of Butter or Margarine

1 Tbsp. Milk

¾ C. Brown Sugar

1 C. Coconut

1 C. Chopped Nuts

Boil for 1 minute, butter, milk and brown sugar. Add coconut and mix. Add chopped nuts, mix. Spread while hot on top of warm cake and brown lightly under broiler
